In the Studio: Casting Bronze

Students in Professor Malcolm MacDougall’s sculpture class poured the first of their bronze castings on Friday. Queens College is one of the few schools in the area with an active foundry, so it’s a great opportunity for sculptors looking to work in traditional casting methods. Check out some of the photos from the pour in the slideshow above.

In the Gallery: An Exquisite Cadaver

From October 15th to 26th, a group of 15 artists (the MFA candidates) immersed themselves in this gallery, one by one. In a time frame of 3 hours each, they developed artwork on site. Prompted by the 100 year old Surrealist technique of the “exquisite corpse,” the artists allowed each other’s work to inspire and influence their intervention on the space. This 11 day individual, anonymous, and collaborative experience aims at a free and informal art-driven conversation amongst the artists.

An Exquisite Cadaver will be on display in the Klapper Student Gallery until Friday, November 3rd.
