Internship Opportunity: Apprentice Museum Educator at the Rubin Museum

The Rubin Museum is seeking interested undergraduates, graduate students, and recent post-graduates for their year-long museum educator internship! Learn practical skills for a career in the arts, programming, or museum education. Apply to join the Rubin’s Apprentice Museum Educator (AME) program and gain the opportunity to work on School and Family Programs or Adult and Academic Programs for the 2018–2019 academic year (September–June). You will develop an understanding of gallery teaching, facilitation of public programs, and museum administration, and will be given the chance to create and lead your own program at the end of your term.

Apprentice Museum Educators are paid a modest monthly stipend for their services. The terms of the stipend will be discussed if applicants are accepted for interviews. School credit may be received.

Apprentice Duties include:

  • Facilitating programs such as talks, concerts and performances
  • Administrative support of programs
  • Museums studies discussions and arts career advising
  • Leading tours and art workshops for K-12 school groups

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Strong interest in a future career in programming, education, or art is encouraged.
  • Fall 2018–Spring 2019 (September–June)
  • 20 hours per week
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
